In the half-light, the arc of the swimmers' arms merges with the pelican
wings taking of from the water. The wet heads of the sea lions soon be-
come indistinguishable from the swimmers' caps. At one point, the sea
lions surround a pair of swimmers and the group swells suddenly into a
single form. Then the white caps separate from the black caps and the bay
wraps them all in cool equanimity. aro
