The Color Board is made up of three panes—Color, Saturation, and Exposure—which can be selected by click-
ing the buttons at the top of the window (see Figure 15.8). Each pane includes four circular pucks, which allow
you to control the Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights independently, plus a Global control for making adjust-
ments to the entire image. For instance, in the Exposure pane, you would use the Shadows puck to adjust the ex-
posure for just the darker areas of the image.

When making changes to the color properties of an image, aim to start with the Exposure settings, because these
can have a dramatic effect on the color. As a general rule, get the blacks of your image close to the zero line on
the Waveform Monitor, and then work with the highlights and midtones as required. After adjusting exposure,
move on to make color adjustments and then finish with saturation.
In the Color pane, a horizontal line across the middle of the Color Board separates the area into two halves.
Moving a puck over a color in the upper (+) area, adds that color to the setting that the puck represents. Moving
