2. Select the Pranks Media Event in the Event Library, and type Scene 1 Slate 1 Take 5 into the Event
Browser's Search field.
3. Control-click Scene 1 Slate 1 Take 5 and choose Open in Timeline.
4. Select the clip in the Timeline and press +5 to open the Effects Browser. Type Flipped in the Search
field.
5. Double-click the Flipped thumbnail or drag and drop it onto Scene 1 Slate 1 Take 5 in the Timeline.
6. With Scene 1 Slate 1 Take 5 still selected, press +4 to open the Inspector.
7. Click the Inspector's Video pane. Under the Effects section, you'll find the settings that control the
Flipped effect.
8. The Direction drop-down menu allows you to choose from Horizontal (flipping the clip sideways), Ver-
tical (flipping the clip upside-down), and Both (flipping the clip in both directions). For our purposes,
choose Both from the drop-down menu (see Figure 14.11). Our shot is now the correct way around.
The Flipped settings also include an Amount slider, which can be keyframed, allowing you to animate the
movement of the flip.

Creating a camera flash effect
Digital cameras that use CMOS sensors and rolling shutters can be susceptible to flash banding when recording
shots that feature short bursts of light, such as flash bulbs or strobes. This causes a partial exposure where the
light flash is split between two frames (see Figure 14.12). The figure shows a flash-band occurring on a single
frame during Scene 14 Slate 43 Take 4 that was used during the Editing Action sequence that you worked on
back in Chapter 11.
