Scene 17 Slate 33 Take 1: A slow push in on Jason's photo.
Scene 17 Slate 34 Take 2: A short insert shot of Katie holding Joyce's hand.
Scene 18 Slate 70 Takes 2 and 3: Two takes of Katie sitting on the bed waiting for Jason to reappear as
the camera tracks back through the doorway. The main difference between the two takes is that Katie holds
the ball in Take 2.

Figure 12.12 A medium two-shot of Katie and Joyce at the photo display.
1. After Katie says the line “We can share it if you like. I really don't mind,” her attention is drawn to Joyce
calling out to her from upstairs. The next shot that should logically follow is the shot of Joyce rushing down
the stairs to see if Katie is okay, which is covered in Scene 17 Slate 29 Take 2. When Katie hears Joyce's
voice, she glances up toward the sound and begins to get up. This would be a good point in the sequence to
cut to this next shot because Katie's glance helps motivate the cut to Joyce rushing down the stairs.
