6. Double-click the audio waveform to expand the first clip in the Timeline (Scene 11 Slate 20 Take 1) and
select the video Out point (see Figure 10.22). We'll smooth out the edit point by rippling the picture to the
left by 10 frames, but this time we'll do it numerically using the keyboard. Make sure that the playhead is at
the end of Scene 11 Slate 20 Take 1, click the Dashboard so that it turns blue, enter -10 , and press Return.
This takes the playhead back by 10 frames and places it at 1 second and 23 frames in the Timeline. Press
Option+] (right square bracket) to perform the ripple edit.

7. Select Scene 11 Slate 23 Take 2 in the Event Browser and play the clip. Katie spins round at the start of
the clip to say, “. . . it wasn't a dream.” This is a good shot to cut to from the master after she walks to the
bed because it gives us an action to cut on (Katie's turn to face Joyce) and allows us to move into tighter
coverage for the sequence (see Figure 10.23). Position the playhead at 14 seconds and 6 frames in the
Timeline and press D to overwrite Scene 11 Slate 23 Take 2 to the Primary Storyline. Play back the edit to
see the result.
