The covered market, which was one of the centerpieces of the project, had
been modeled in some detail since the preproject stages because of its
central role in the regeneration of the square and because we wanted to put
particular emphasis on its final appearance, particularly on its white-painted,
tubular-steel framework (see Fig. 4.18).
