This means that you can have many variations of the same component (of
various sizes and positions), and changes in one of them will affect all other
component instances proportionally. Let me explain in models.

Create an object and make it a component

Create several component instances by duplicating the component
3.
Modify them with Scale tool
4.
Change the component definition of the original component (i.e., one
without modifications)
5.
All component instances will be modified proportionally
