In-Depth Information
presented with the default Uniform Server starter page (localhost is simply another name
for the computer you're currently working on, as is the IP address 127.0.0.1).

Now that our server is up and running, we are almost ready to get started writing some
code. The one last thing we have to do is familiarize ourselves with the server's default
WWW root folder. If you open up the folder where you extracted your copy of Uniform
Server, you will see a folder called www (see Figure 2-3). Anything that you place in this
folder will be visible to any user that is viewing your site via a browser. Since we are
going to be using our own project files, you can feel free to delete everything in this
folder to start fresh. Later you might make use of these files when setting up your
production server. However, for development purposes, they are not needed.
