segmentation effectiveness. In fact, the simplicity is the key advantage itself. The
dividing mechanism is analogous to the 'separate and merge' procedure of region
growing excluding the merging part.
The mechanism can be described more effectively by using diagram and flow-
chart as below. To ease the explanation, nomenclatures used are defined. The
top left corner's block is named as TL-1.0, the top right corner's block is named
as TR-2.0, the bottom left corner's block is named as BL-3.0, the bottom right
corner's block is named as BL-4.0. If the TR-1.0 is quadrisected into four equal
blocks, then the top left corner's block of TR-1.0 is named as TR-1.1; the top right
corner's block of TR-1.0 is named as TR-1.2; the bottom left corner's block of TR-
1.0 is named as TR-1.3 and the logic goes on. For example, if the BR-4.0 is quad-
risected, then the bottom right corner's block of it is named as BR-4.4, and if again
BR-4.4 is further quadrisected, then for instance, the bottom left corner's block of
it is named as BR-4.4.3 and so on.
The Fig. 3.10 a is the input image. Figure 3.10 b shows the quadrisected input
image. In Fig. 3.10 c, TL-1.0 remains according to the result of cluster validity;
