Attributable to the limitations of using simple statistics, various more sophis-
ticated type of thresholding method based on different technique in determining
the threshold value are proposed: one of the methods is the threshold value selec-
tion based on histogram: instead of choosing the mean or median of the image as
the threshold value to separate the object and the background, the histogram-based
thresholding method determine the threshold value based on the histogram shape
