4.8.3 Flexural Strength and Flexural Modulus
The flexural strength ( Figure 4.10 ) measurement was carried out according to the International
Standardization Organization specification 4049 due to the capability to test complex stress (compres-
sive, tensile, and shear) simultaneously using one sample.
The flexural modulus (GPa) is the relation of flexural strength to the deformation of materials. The
higher the flexural or elastic modulus of a material, the higher the energy required to deform it. In
