In-Depth Information
in Karlsruhe, Germany, is based on this strategy. Good correlations of signals
were found not only to fungal biomass but also to OTA produced under
various environmental conditions. With the currently available systems for
PCR-based detection and identifi cation, qualitative information about the
presence or absence of a certain fungus can be obtained and this should
be used to some advantage for food and feed quality control because the
technology has the power to provide an insight into the mycotoxigenic
potential of a sample analyzed. The reported systems which provide an
approach of molecular detection of mycotoxigenic fungi may be analyzed
and utilized to optimize food and feed production processes for minimized
risk of mycotoxin production.
