Electrodeposition: Electroplating
The electrodeposition manufacturing process can be divided into
two categories: electroforming and electroplating, both of which
operate according to the same principles, the biggest difference
being that the electroforming process is independent of the substrate
material, as shown in Fig. 6.4, whereas electroplating requires
substrates with planned material, as shown in Fig 6.3. This section
describes the electroplating technique following the lithography
process. This technique forms micro-structures in the substrate and
can greatly reduce the time required for molding and also increase
the mechanical strength of the mother mold.
