Interrupted Mapping, Tiled
After creating an interrupted map for section of a sphere, that slice of the sphere is
copied into a new object. This is then duplicated and rotated as many times as
needed to create a hemisphere, then duplicated and refl ected vertically to complete
a new sphere, now mapped with each slice using the same texture coordinates. Once
this is done, all of the parts are combined into one polyset and coincident vertices
merged (Fig. 10.26 ). The sphere is made this way because modifying the texture
