Working from curves allows an artist to defi ne multiple polygons at once, with
extremely smooth results. When working with curves, one of the most important
factors to keep in mind is whether you want your curve subdivided evenly during
the polygon creation process, or if vertices should be added based on curvature
changes in the curve. The results can be quite different, so you should always bear
this in mind while working.
There are a large number of curve-based tools available, too many to cover here,
but there are a few tools in common that are worth the trouble to discuss. As always,
the exact name of the tool will vary, but its function will be the same regardless of
application. They are (Fig. 6.5 ):
