Pick a breed, any breed! This chart will help you shop for the perfect girls to start or add
to your flock. Aside from listing birds and their characteristics, ranging from weather tol-
erance to eggshell color, it also shows their status as determined by the American Live-
stock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC), which is actively trying to keep breeding populations
of heritage breeds thriving. Consult the oracle. You might well find a rare, high-produ-
cing, cold-weather-loving, nonbroody breed that's perfect for your Chicago frittata flock.
