5000 cells mL −1 in just 25 min. Later work has improved on these LODs.
In 2006, Viswanathan used liposome coated CNTs for electrochemical
detection of cholera toxin with an LOD of 10 −16 g. 64 In 2009, Cheng and
colleagues employed CNTs, coated in Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles, in an ampero-
metric biosensors for the rapid detection of coliforms. 65 The detection was
based upon determination of the phenol produced by an enzymatic reac-
tion in the bacteria solution.
