This inelastic scattering accounts for only 1 in 10 6-7 photons inci-
dent upon the sample, and therefore the Raman signal is obviously very
weak. Various other means of enhancing Raman measurements have been
developed, including resonance Raman spectroscopy, stimulated Raman
spectroscopy, coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy and surface-
