• To deselect nodes, Shift-click a selected node.
Arranging nodes
It is also good practice to keep a tree organized. The definition of “organized” is subject-
ive, but the general idea is that looking at the tree makes sense, and following the flow
from one node to the next is easy. Here are a few ways to keep an organized tree:
• Nodes snap to position when they get close to other nodes both horizontally and
vertically.
•Toarrangeafewnodestogether,selectthem,andthenpressLonthekeyboard.Use
thiswithcaution—youcangetunexpectedresultsbecauseNukeusessimplemath-
ematical rules instead of common sense. You might expect that the Read nodes
would be on top, but sometimes they're on the side.
• You can also create backdrops around part of your tree that remind you where
you did certain things—a kind of group, if you will. Access these Backdrop nodes
through the Other toolbox. You will learn this shortly.
