Wooden fences
A fence made of vertical wooden palings 47 inches high, with the bottom no more than 2
inches off the ground and no more than 2 inches of space between the palings, is largely goat-
proof. Goats can squeeze through small spaces, so the fence should be regularly inspected to
ensure all the palings are sound and firmly attached. A wooden fence can be reinforced with
wire fencing to make it escape-proof. Wooden fencing is usually too expensive to be used for
large enclosures.
