In-Depth Information
The grounds at Fairburn Farm sprawl across 130 acres.
ahead or check the website to book a visit to
coincide with special events.)
The white clapboard farmhouse itself is a
beautifully preserved example of a frontier
homestead. Founded in 1884, the farm has
high ceilings, antique moldings, tiled fire-
places, and a broad porch that affords
sweeping valley views. Each room is indi-
vidually decorated in lovely, almost Quaker-
inspired simplicity; all have modern en suite
bathrooms, and some even have Jacuzzi
tubs. A hearty breakfast is included in the
room rates; overnight guests can also dine
here Thursday through Saturday nights,
with four- or seven-course menus focused
on local and regional organic foods. The
six-course Sunday lunches served in sum-
mer out on the veranda are leisurely relaxed
affairs reminiscent of a weekly family feast
on a traditional Italian farm.
You're welcome to stay here simply as a
guest, without dining in; you can dine and
stay overnight without availing yourself of
the cooking program. But it's the cooking
program that really makes this such a spe-
cial place; it's a way of connecting all the
dots from farm to table, one thoughtful
dot at a time.
