In-Depth Information
6. Enter Link 2 for the block name, and click OK to create a new sketch
block.
7. Click the center point of the circle on the right of the new block, and
drag it to the center point at the top of the vertical red bar on the
right (see Figure 3.11); release when it shows it is creating a constraint
between centers.

constraints between sketch blocks
8. Click and drag the center of the new block on the left to the center
point of the vertical bar on the left.
9. Click and drag one of those endpoints to see how the linkage moves.
10. Double-click one of the instances of Link 1 in the Design window.
11. When the sketch geometry appears, click the 50 mm dimension and
change it to 80 mm.
12. Click the Finish Edit Block icon on the Exit panel of the Sketch tab.
13. Move the links using the new part length.
Sketch blocks can be simple or complex as needed to help you predict how a
mechanism will work. Sketch blocks are quick, and the sketch can be used to
build 3D data and speed up the development of an assembly.
Understanding Sketch Alerts
Occasionally, a sketch may be missing constraints that will affect your ability to
create geometry. Inventor includes tools that help you locate and correct these
missing constraints.
