9. Set the count for Direction 2 to 5, and set Spacing to 20 mm, as shown
in Figure 3.10.
10. Click OK to create the pattern.

The two directions in the Rectangular pattern do not need to be perpendicular
to each other. They can even be collinear going in opposite directions.
Using Sketches for Concept Layout
Using 2D to test a concept is not new. Using a combination of parametric dimen-
sions and sketch constraints can bring this idea up-to-date and offer quick changes
to test an idea.
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open the c03-03.ipt file from the Parts\Chapter​3 folder.
2. Double-click the Sketch icon in the browser to activate the Linkage
sketch.
Under the sketch in the browser, you will see three instances of a
sketch block named Link 1 and two circles and a line that also reside
in the sketch.
3. In the Layout panel of the Sketch tab, click the Create Block tool.
Adding entities to a sketch block allows you to group the sketch
elements together without creating a series of sketches.
4. Click the pink circles and line.
5. Pick the Insert Point select tool, and then pick the center of the right
circle.
