This opens a new drawing page in the Graphics window and updates the Ribbon
to present the Place Views tab and its tools.

Placing the Base and Projected Views
Now, you can begin the process of creating your drawing. For this exercise, you
will use the marking menu tools.

1. Right-click in the Graphics window, and move up to select the Base
View tool; or, right-click and drag up quickly to activate the tool.
2. In the Drawing View dialog box, click the icon to select an existing
file at the end of the File drop-down.
When you have 3D
files open, they will
automatically appear
in the File drop-
down list.
3. Using the same Open dialog box you used in Chapter 1, “Connecting
to Inventor's Interface,” use the parts shortcut in the upper left; then
open the Parts\Chapter​2 folder, and select the c02-01.ipt ile.
If you move your cursor over the drawing page, a preview appears,
showing how the component will be sized and positioned on the page.
4. In the upper right of the Drawing View dialog box, click a few different
options in the Orientation field and see the effect each one has on the
preview. Make sure you end up back at the Front view.
