In-Depth Information
The other option for defining a new Home view is Fixed Distance. This option
maintains the zoom scale and position, even if additions to the model go outside
the Graphics window.
The ability to define the orientation of the ViewCube and the Home view will
prove useful as you gain experience.
Checking Out the Status Bar
On the bottom edge of the Inventor window is a bar that gives you information
about expected inputs for tools. The status bar also gives you feedback on infor-
mation needed by Inventor, as well as the number of files that are being accessed
and parts that are being displayed when working in an assembly.
Using Marking Menus
As you create drawing views, parts, and assemblies and as you use other tools,
you will see dialog boxes for these tools.
Beginning with Inventor 2011, several “Heads-Up” interface tools have been
added that put common commands at the mouse cursor. Marking menus work
in two modes: Menu and Marking.
Menu Mode When you are editing a file and right-click in the Graphics win-
dow, a “compass” (see Figure 1.15) of tools appears. As you move toward a tool,
a shadow will highlight it, and clicking the mouse with this highlighting active
selects the tool.
In the Options panel
of the Tools tab is a
Customize tool. With
it, you can change
what tools appear
on the compass
and how they look.
You can also con-
trol the size of the
Overflow menu that
appears beneath the
compass.
