In-Depth Information
Perusing the tabs in the dialog box will give you a sense of just how many
variables these models can have. Think about the numbers of variables in your
designs that are similar. It's easy for the number of variables between parts to
get out of hand.
Working with an Assembly of iParts
To configure an assembly, you can use a combination of regular parts or iParts.
In each version of the assembly, you can change out what components are being
used and how they are assembled to one another.
The assembly you will convert was built using traditional assembly con-
straints. The -01 version of each of the iParts was used in the assembly.
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open c15-02.iam from the Assemblies\Chapter15 folder.
2. Locate the c15-11-01 part in the Browser, and expand it so you can
see the Table icon.
3. Right-click the Table icon, and click Change Component in the con-
text menu.
The Place Standard iPart dialog box (Figure 15.11) appears, dis-
playing the current version of the iPart you're using.
FIGURE 15.11 The Place Standard iPart
dialog box displays the current iPart information.
4. In the dialog box, click the 2394-01 part number.
5. This will open a mini-dialog box showing the available versions of the
part. Click 2394-03, and click OK.
Because the holes for mounting the c15-16 part are suppressed in
this version, there will be an error message concerning the failure of
several assembly constraints.
