10. Double-click the Parts\Chapter15\c15.04.ipt ile.
When the Link Parameters dialog box opens, colored balloons indi-
cate the linked (yellow) or unlinked (gray) status of each user-named
and special parameter. Clicking a gray balloon turns it yellow and
links that parameter into your active part.
11. Deselect the Show All Parameters check box, and then click the
drawer_depth, drawer_side_height, back_width, and bottom_thickness
parameters (Figure 15.5). Click OK to close the dialog box.

to link into the active part
12. Equate the named parameters in the part to the linked parameters as
listed:
width = back_width
height = drawer_side_height
thickness = bottom_thickness
offset = drawer_depth
13. Click Done to update the part, and then click the Return icon on the
Ribbon to go back to the assembly.
Some users create
the shared parame-
ters in the assembly
itself or in a part file
with no geometry.
The back will move into place, sized based on the parameters of the front of
the drawer, as shown in Figure 15.6. This relationship will remain until you
change it and update all the parts that share those parameters. This is one way
of building parts to connect, but the changes are limited to manual updating.
iParts will provide a more powerful technique.
