Documenting the Process
Sheet metal parts often require two types of drawing. A drawing of the folded
part will help quality control and manufacturing verify that the part was built
properly. Drawings of the flat patterns can be used to cut the parts out of the
raw material.
Certification
Objective
1. Verify that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then create a
new drawing using ISO.idw from the Metric Folder of the New File
dialog box.
2. Start the Base View tool from the marking menu or the Create panel
of the Place Views tab.
3. Click the Open An Existing File icon, and open the c10-13.ipt ile
from the Parts/Chapter​10 folder.
4. On the Component tab of the Drawing View dialog box, click the flat
pattern for the Sheet Metal view, and set the scale to 1:2.
5. Place the view in the middle of the page, right-click, and select OK
from the context menu.
6. Switch the Ribbon to the Annotate tab, and click Bend on the Feature
Notes panel.
7. Click the bend line in the drawing closest to the top; when the
note is placed, press the Esc key, or right-click and click OK in
the context menu.
Clicking and dragging the insertion point of the bend note will
place the note on a leader.
8. Start the Table tool from the Table panel on the Annotate tab.
9. When the Table dialog box opens, click the drawing view.
The dialog box changes when the view is selected and lists the
columns that will be shown in a bend table.
10. Click OK in the dialog box, and then place the table on the drawing.
