This creates the new files and then opens the new assembly with the related
parts. The parts will be grounded into position, so applying assembly constraints
isn't needed.
Draft Analysis
There are tools for several types of shape and geometry analysis in Inventor. You
can analyze the curvature, the sections of the body, and even the continuity of
the surfaces.
Draft analysis gives a basic understanding of how a part might separate from a
mold. It gives you the opportunity to make changes early in the process.
1. Verify that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then open
c09-14.ipt from the Parts\Chapter9 folder.
2. Switch the Ribbon to the Inspect tab, and click the Draft tool on the
Analysis panel.
3. Expand the Origin folder in the Browser, and select the XY plane for
the direction to which the pull would be normal.
In the Draft Analysis dialog box, you will find a scale showing the col-
ors related to the draft angle. You can change the range of the positive
and negative draft results and establish the range of allowed angles.
Understanding the color related to the angle will help you interpret the
results.
4. Click OK to close the dialog box and display the results of the analy-
sis, as shown in Figure 9.17.
5. After inspecting the results on the part, find the Analysis folder in the
Browser, right-click, and uncheck Analysis Visibility in the context menu.
