5. Leave the default options, and click OK to completely link the c08-12
part into the new part.
You can now add features to the linked geometry to make a machining
of this cast part. Now, let's open an existing machining and the original
casting.
You can use Derive
Component to create
a single or multi-
body part out of an
assembly even as a
mirrored or scaled
geometry.
6. Open the c08-13.ipt file from the Parts\Chapter​8 folder.
Take a moment to review the holes, extrusions, and other features
that have removed material from the original casting.
7. Open c08-12.ipt from the Parts\Chapter​8 folder.
8. In the Browser, locate the end-of-part marker. Click and drag it to the
bottom of the list of features.
After the part updates, you will see that a rib feature has been added
to the model.
9. Click the File tab below the Design window to display your new part.
It will not show the change to the casting yet.
10. Click the local update icon in the Quick Access toolbar to bring the
changes into your new part.
11. Switch your Design window to the c08-13.ipt file and update it.
