Using the Bearing Generator
Many bearing standards are global, so this tool allows you to choose from a
number of different components with the same basic geometry.
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open the c08-03.iam file from the Assemblies\Chapter8 folder.
2. Click the Bearing tool in the Power Transmission panel of the Design tab.
The Bearing Generator dialog box has two tabs. The Design tab
displays a bearing (selected based on the size specified), and the
Calculation tab allows you to verify that the bearing will hold up to
the demands of its job. All generators have at least these two tabs.
3. Set the dimensional values for the dialog box to be the same as
Figure 8.3, and click the Update button to build a list of bearings
that meet the physical specs.

can quickly generate a list of bearings based on size.
4. Click the down arrow near the top of the dialog box where it says
Angular Contact Ball Bearings to open a selection dialog box.
5. In the dialog box, use the drop-down menu in the upper right to
change the category of bearing to Cylindrical Roller Bearings, and
then select the Cylindrical Roller Bearings (Figure 8.4) option in the
upper left so that it creates a list of all of the bearings that it.
