Adding a Coil
Threaded hole features do not generate physical threads, but if you need threads
or to represent a coil of any type, there is a specific feature for it. In this case,
you'll use a coil to create threads for the mouth of the bottle.
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open c07-16.ipt from the Parts\Chapter7 folder.
2. Start the Coil tool from the Create panel on the 3D Model tab.
3. The profile will be automatically selected. Click the y-axis from the
Origin folder for the axis of the coil. It might be necessary to use
the direction button in the dialog box to make sure the coil is going
toward the body of the part.
This will open the Coil dialog box. This dialog box has three tabs
for selecting geometry, specifying the coil, and controlling the ends
of the coil.
4. Switch to the Coil Size tab and set the type to Revolution And Height,
set the Height value to 7, and set the Revolution count to 2, as shown
in Figure 7.25.

5. Click OK to generate the coil feature.
This feature can be created using pretty much any profile as long as it doesn't
intersect itself. This makes it flexible for many things.
