This part could've been modeled as a quarter of the body, mirroring it around
the YZ plane and then the XY plane. Once the symmetrical portions are mir-
rored, you can add unique features to the different areas of the part.

rather than mirror-
ing or patterning
whole solids.
Creating an Offset Work Plane
Work planes are needed when faces don't exist on which to create sketches or to
use to develop other features. These can be developed by selecting edges, points,
or other planes.

Objective
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open c07-14.ipt from the Parts\Chapter​7 folder.
The Work Plane tool is available on the marking menu. More
options are available in the Work Features panel on the 3D Model
tab (Figure 7.23).

2. Expand the Origin folder in the browser.
3. Start the Offset from Plane option from the Work Planes drop-down,
and click the XZ plane in the browser.
