Saving the Standard
The standard as you've defined it so far is ready to use as a starting point for fur-
ther style definitions. Later, there may be elements that you change in a drawing
that you may not want to reuse in others, or you may want to change certain
properties in individual templates rather than globally changing the standard.
So, this is a good time to save the standard in its current form.
1. Continue using the open file, or verify that the 2013 Essentials project
file is active and then open c05-07.idw from the Drawings\Chapter5
folder.
2. Click the Save tool in the Styles And Standards panel of the Manage tab.
3. In the Save Styles to Style Library dialog box, set the value in the
Save To Library? column to Yes only for the items you created. See
Figure 5.4.
4. Click the Cancel button in the dialog box.

be reused
The previous exercise shows you that you can still choose what changes get saved
to the standard. Some of the changes will affect objects that are used in standard
templates, and saving the changes made to the layers at this point may cause con-
flicts with the default templates. It is best for you to make these changes to your
templates with your own preferences when the time comes.
