Now, you can change some of the appearance settings that will have an effect
on the other changes you've made.
Setting Layer Properties
Layer properties can be set from the Annotation tab in the drawing, but estab-
lishing them in the Style and Standards dialog box is a good place, too.
1. Continue using the open file, or verify that the 2013 Essentials project
file is active and then open the file c05-05.idw from the Drawings\
Chapter5 folder.
2. Start the Style and Standards Editor from the Styles And Standards
panel of the Manage tab.
3. Expand the Layers styles, and click the Dimension (ANSI) layer to see
its properties and the properties of the other layers in the dialog box
window on the right.
You can change the layer properties displayed by clicking their cur-
rent value and using a drop-down or a dialog box to change them. You
can also click the lightbulb icon to change the visibility of the layer.
4. Click the black rectangle in the Dimension (ANSI) row to open the
Color dialog box.
5. Click the dark blue swatch in the top row of the Color dialog box, and
click OK to set the color of the Dimension layer.
6. Change the color of the Hatch (ANSI) layer to the lightest gray on the
bottom row.
7. Change the color of the Hidden (ANSI) layer to the light red on the
top row.
You can also define
custom colors in the
dialog box.
8. Click the Save icon at the top of the dialog box to save the changes to
the layers in the drawing.
Note that the changes to the layer styles have updated the drawing appearance.
