CHAPTER 5
Customizing Styles
and Templates
Consistent standards improve communication and quality. Autodesk ®
Inventor ® software comes with several standards from around the world that
can be used as a foundation for constructing a company-specific standard.
Inventor standards are based on a collection of styles. In this chapter, you
will learn to modify styles and come to understand the process.
Another easy way to create consistency among users is to use templates
with preconfigured styles. These templates can even be configured to short-
cut the process of defining a part, assembly, or drawing.

Working with Styles
A good strategy for making changes to styles is to start small and work your way
up. Some style elements are shared as a resource for others. By establishing the
properties of these resources, you can simplify configuring others above them.
Creating a Standard
You'll begin the process by creating a new standard, the specific settings of
which will be defined in following exercises:
1. Verify that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then open
the file c05-01.idw from the Drawings\Chapter5 folder.
