Adding an Edge Fillet
One of the best practices for modeling is not to include incidental fillets in the
sketch. It is better and easier to place fillet features in the model instead.

Objective
1. Continue using the drawing from the previous exercise or make
certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then open
c03-12.ipt from the Parts\Chapter3 folder.
2. Click one of the short, vertical edges on the square base of the part.
3. When the icons appear for the most common options, select the
Create Fillet tool.
4. Click the remaining three short edges.
5. An arrow icon will follow your selections. Drag it to create a 14 mm
radius on the four corners, as shown in Figure 3.25.
6. Thanks to marking menus, a quick right-click and drag to the right
will give you the same effect as clicking OK. Try this to complete the
fillet tool.
It is possible to click
faces and edges
through a part by
hovering over their
location. You can
also orbit while in
a command without
interrupting it.
FIGURE 3.25 The fillets will develop as you drag them.
