3. In the Add/Edit Post page, click the HTML tab. The HTML code for your post appears.
4. Add an audio shortcode and the URL of the file as follows: [audio http:// domain/path ] .
The player appears in your post at the location indicated by where in the HTML code you place
the audio shortcode.
5. Test your page and modify it, if needed.
Uploading and Inserting an Audio File
Once you purchase a space upgrade, or on a WordPress.org-supported blog, uploading and insert-
ing an audio file is much like uploading and inserting an image. Follow these steps:
1. In the Administration area of your blog, under the Media Library menu, click Add New.
The Media Library uploader appears.
2. Select the audio file and upload it.

3. Enter the Title, Caption, and Description. As with image
files, the Title is the name of the audio clip within the Media
Library. The Caption, if any, displays below the audio icon.
The Description is only used within the Media Library.
4. For the Link URL, leave it blank; click the None button, if
needed. The player appears in your post at the location indi-
cated by where in the HTML code you place the audio
shortcode.
5. Test your page and modify it, if needed. This causes the Audio Player to appear.
6. Click the Insert into Post button. The Audio Player appears in the post.
Using Video in Your Blog
Whereas audio is very powerful, video (and its cousin, film) are the most involving media available.
In fact, it once seemed that the amount of time people spend watching television would only ever
increase—until the Internet came along to steal back big chunks of people's time.
Now video is an integral part of the Web. Realize, though, that video and film are experienced on a
continuum. The tiny, highly compressed images, with low-quality audio, that we use in blogs and
other web pages are at the lowest end. (Well, maybe just above a flip book.) Then, you move up to
cell phones, then portable video players, then normal TVs, then big-screen TVs, all the way up to a
movie theater, iMax cinema, or 3D screen.
Creating high-quality video or film is enormously expensive and involving. It takes experts and
artists to do it right.
