Ratings and polls work together on your site, along with comments, trackbacks, and pings, as means for people
to interact with your blog. We covered comment and ratings settings in Chapter 2. We recommend that you try
to think of all of these as different aspects of interaction with your blog and use them together.
In general, we recommend an open approach (unless your content or audience makes that unsuitable). Let peo-
ple comment without moderation, unless that leads to unacceptable results; use ratings except on static web
pages, where they can seem inappropriate. And finally, use polls—to encourage comments and ratings as well
as trackbacks and pings.
