Creating and Editing Static Pages
The steps for creating or editing a static page are similar to each other, and are also very similar to
the steps for creating or editing a blog posting.
To create a static page, follow these steps:
1. In the Administration area, under the Pages menu in the left column, click Add New. The Add
New Page page appears, as shown in Figure 7.4.

Adding new
pages builds up
your site.
2. Use the Visual and HTML tabs, as described in Chapter 4, “Creating Your First Post,” and
Chapter 6, respectively, to create your static web page.
Whereas blog posts are typically read more like a magazine or newspaper story, web pages are
more often skimmed by people looking for key pieces of information. Keep text brief. Use bul-
leted lists, headings, and graphics to break things up. Help your blog visitor get back to reading
your wonderful blog postings!
3. Use the check boxes to allow or not allow comments and pings.
We recommend that you consider not allowing comments; a static page is structural rather than
conversational. An exception would be if you were giving a page a trial and asking for com-
ments during the initial period.
