Manage the
links in your
blogroll.
5. Specify the Link Relationship (XFN). Most of us can ignore
this. Only use it if you know something about these kinds of
relationships and/or are part of a network of blogs and sites
that uses them. This is a bit like the dating status on
Facebook—the one that causes so many arguments when
one person in a couple describes themselves as single and
the other person describes themselves as dating someone.
For more information, visit the XHTML Friends Network at
http://gmpg.org/xfn.
note
Yes, we do recommend you use
Descriptions for links in your
blogroll because these
Descriptions always appear to
the user (when the user hovers
the mouse over a blogroll link).
Given the way the description
is displayed, keep it short and
sweet.
6. Specify Advanced fields. Most of us can ignore this as well.
You can specify an image to go with the link (which you can
optionally choose to expose in the Links widget), notes to
yourself about it, and a rating. (The fact that you link to the site at all seems to us to be enough
of a rating.) You can also enter the RSS URL for RSS feeds, but this is only useful if your theme
exposes these URLs or as a note to yourself.
7. Click Add Link to add the link.
