Setting keyframes with the diamond
icon in the Property panel
Setting keyframes on the Timeline in lanes • Once an animation lane for a
property exists, more keyframes can be added directly into the Timeline. Again,
you do this by using the small diamond icon to the right of the corresponding
property.

Automatically setting keyframes • Frequently, animation sequences are creat-
ed in their actual order. Edge Animate uses the Auto-Keyframe Mode to do this.
This mode is activated by default and automatically sets keyframes when an
element is moved or a property is changed. However, this mode is only active
if an animation lane already exists for the property in question, or if at least one
keyframe has already been set. In this way, you can move new elements to a
specific position without creating any unwanted keyframes. Animations can be
created very quickly in this mode, but you must always make changes careful-
ly in order to not create unwanted animation sequences. The Auto-Transition
Mode is a special case. This option is rarely deactivated in a regular workflow.
However, if you want to set the properties directly (in other words, switch off
the automatic calculation of the transitions between two states), you need to
deactivate Auto-Transition Mode. An example scenario for this mode is a sprite
sheet animation (flip book effect), in which part of an image changes in a fast
tempo without the image itself visibly moving over a long period of time (see
the sample project in section 4.5.4).
