enough group (10 or more people), the owner might arrange trips to Isla Mona…if you can
get a permit. There are also snorkeling trips offered around the nearby cliffs ($40 without
equipment), deep-sea fishing in the Pasaje de la Mona ($400 per half-day charter) and
diving off Isla Desecheo ($75 per person). The owner also has a handful of apartments for
rent.
Sleeping
There's no luxury here and few good deals, so better sleeping options are on other parts of
the west coast. Still, if you find yourself in Joyuda for the evening before a charter, try one
of the following.
Parador Joyuda Beach

Up the road from Parador
Perichi's and the Joyuda Plaza, this hotel is actually
on
a narrow strand of beach. It's not
exactly Boquerón, but the snorkeling right offshore is OK, as long as the wind stays south-
erly. The hotel has a restaurant, a swimming pool and 41 standard rooms with those ubi-
quitous flowery bedspreads and terra-cotta tiled floors. Arrive expecting a tropical-flavored
motel and you shouldn't be disappointed.

A tiny pool and spotless rooms make
this little guesthouse the best value within miles. There are no big luxuries on the property,
but you'll be very comfortable. There's also a small cafeteria on site where mains come for
a $4 bargain.
Joyuda Plaza

This 55-room hotel is within
walking distance of Joyuda's best food and drink. Despite dark rooms, it boasts serviceable
facilities, a pair of pools and a friendly staff.
