Mona Aquatics DIVING, SNORKELING

náutico (marina), west of the center of town, Mona Aquatics has a 40ft dive boat - Orca
Too - that takes you on local dives ($105) or longer excursions to Isla Desecheo ($150).
Prices include snack, weights, instruction and two dives and get cheaper if you have a
group. It also rents out snorkeling gear and occasionally operates boats across the rough
passage to Isla Mona.
Kayaking
Along Calle José de Diego, there are a number of vendors renting kayaks and other gear to
get in the water. This is a great option if you want to explore the mangroves east of town.
Boquerón Kayak Rental KAYAKING
( 787-255-1849;CalleJosédeDiego) Has pedal boats and surf bikes, as well as kayaks
(all from $15 per hour). Boat rides are also available. Cash only.
Sleeping
Unless it's high season, there is likely to be plenty of space in Boquerón. In addition to the
accommodations listed below, there are a number of private homes with rooms or apart-
ments to rent. Look for signs nailed to telephone poles along Calle José de Diego.

keted toward Puerto Rican families, this excellent, enormous government-operated com-
plex is the best of its kind in Puerto Rico, a sprawling village of basic apartments that hold
six people and have a bathroom, kitchen, bunk beds and ceiling fans. They come in two
