Coconut Palms Guesthouse
GUESTHOUSE $$

;
2734 Calle 8, Comunidad Estela; r
$75-150)
Sandwiched in between Rincón's more upscale southern resorts lies this fun and
unpretentious guesthouse in a residential neighborhood just off Hwy 115. The Coconut's
best feature is its fern-draped and bird-filled courtyard along with its lovely setting right on
a calm, nonsurfing stretch of beach. It has a number of adjoining rooms, many with pull-out
futons, making it ideal for small groups traveling on a smaller budget or those who want to
relax with a good book and laze around on the sand.
Hotel Villa Cofresí
HOTEL $$
( 787-823-2450;
www.villacofresi.com
; Hwy 115 Km 12.3; r $115-160; )
There's nothing too fancy here, but fabulous customer service, squeaky-clean rooms and
king-size beds make this a safe, if slightly bland option. It seems like someone plucked a
better-than-average Days Inn out of a highway exit in Ohio and dropped it in the tropics.
There's also a large pool and water-sports concession on the property and the restaurant/
bar is renowned for its high-octane coconut drinks.

; Hwy 115 Km 12.2; r $235-495;
)
This is a resort with all the usual upscale touches, yet it somehow retains a more
laid-back Rincón feel than the bigger piles further east. Maybe it's the tasteful antiques that
adorn the lavish lobby, or the gaggles of nouveau-riche surfers who congregate around the
swimming pool. Parked right on a calm stretch of beach, the Rincón is a modern hotel with
a swath of beautifully landscaped grounds. Regular rooms go for under $200 in summer,
but travelers with a penchant for art deco can fork out more than $400 for the special ocean-
