Islena is an elegant Mediterranean-style guesthouse on a magnificent, moody stretch of
ocean. It's a magnet for discerning jet-setting surfers; guests work out the sore muscles
at morning yoga under palms and navigate the walled-in gardens to nine lovely sea-view
rooms. Breakfast is at the bar next to the sparkling pool, afternoon snacks are plates of
lime-dressed grilled fish from the Tapas Bar ( Click here ). The nightly dinner show in-
cludes a spectacle of roaring surf and setting sun. As with all of Rincón's best places, you'll
certainly want to book early.
Blue Boy Inn HOTEL $$

) This elegant little inn near the old marina is an excellent midpriced option with very
private rooms, a doting staff and the best breakfast around. This isn't a good place for fam-
ilies (it suggests no children under 12 years of age), nor is it ideal for avid surfers (the best
breaks are north of town) but the tiled terraces of rooms are hidden among the leafy gar-
dens and exude a romantic, secluded atmosphere. In the evening, guests can cook at the
outdoor kitchen near the pool or sit around the crackling fire pit before retiring to their
rooms, where high-thread-count sheets cover sleigh beds. It has boogie boards and bikes
for its guests to use, free of charge.

( Click here ), rooms that are outfitted like small, tiled-floor apartments, and lots of un-
pretentious character. Few rooms have good views, but many have cooking facilities and
kitchenettes, and they're slowly being upgraded with flat-screen televisions. If you choose
one of the rooms up front, expect plenty of background noise after hours.
