Vieques is a rural island. You can expect to hear chickens, dogs, cats, cattle and horses mak-
ing their barnyard noises day and night. Travelers will find guesthouses in both of Vieques'
main towns, as well as elsewhere. Many places have a minimum stay during high season.
Just like Culebra, Vieques is an open-minded and tolerant community, and you can safely
assume that all tourist accommodations here are gay-friendly. Many guesthouses and res-
taurants on the island are owned by lesbian or gay expats.

There are a few accommodations in the heart of town, easily reached on foot from the ferry.
Other offerings exist up just above the lighthouse on North Shore Rd, an area called Bravos
de Boston. They're not far as the crow flies, but a long uphill trek on foot.
