In-Depth Information
Erik's Gyros & Deli MEDITERRANEAN $
(352FernándezGarcía;dishes$6-10; 7am-6pmMon-Sat,8:30am-2pmSun; ) It
doesn't look like much, but locals swear by this place a few blocks south of the main plaza
in downtown Luquillo. If you're missing gyro sandwiches or have an incurable penchant
for feta cheese and a mochaccino, this is the place. Breakfasts too.
Brass Cactus RESTAURANT $$
(Hwy 193 Km 1.3; dishes $8-22; 11am-midnight Sun-Thu, 11am-2am Fri-Sat) Not
at all prickly, the Brass Cactus serves big plates of American pub fare with the odd tra-

the down-home decor (think license plates hanging from the walls) will give them plenty
to look at. Around 11pm on weekends the Cactus gets more of a club vibe, with patrons
coming in to drink rather than eat.
La Exquisita Bakery BAKERY $
(Cnr 4 de Julio & Jesús Piñero; dishes $1-4; 6am-8pm Mon-Sat, 8am-3pm Sun)
Well perhaps not 'Champs Élysées' exquisite, but, as far as Luquillo goes, this place could
satisfy a few sweet tooths. Slap-bang in the town's sleepy main square, this is where locals
gather for cakes, pastry, coffee and sandwiches.
Entertainment
Aside from the makeshift barbecues and myriad people-watching possibilities, you only
have a couple of options here (outside of the swankier bars in the Río Mar). Then again,
the beach itself is often a full-on party, especially at weekends.
Guava's LIVE MUSIC
(PlayaLaPared; to2amFri&Sat) A bohemia trio plays at this restaurant on Sunday,
and on Friday and Saturday nights, the tables are cleared and you can take a turn to live
salsa, merengue or borchata with a splendid beach view.
El Flamboyán BAR
(Hwy193Km1.2; 8am-midnightWed-Mon) Rub some chalk onto your pool cue and
twist the top off your Medalla beer (preferably by hand); yes, the Flamboyán is one of those
