OCEAN PARK
HosterĂa del Mar GUESTHOUSE $$
( 787-727-3302; www.hosteriadelmarpr.com ; 1Tapia;r$104-239; ) With a de-
sirable beachside location, and greeting guests with an artsy water feature and eye-catching
antiques, this whitewashed Ocean Park guesthouse is quiet, intimate and definitively Carib-
bean. There's no pool, but there is an excellent restaurant in an enclosed gazebo overlooking
the beach. Rooms are furnished with a simple rattan-inspired elegance.
AndalucĂa Guest House GUESTHOUSE $$
( 787-309-3373; www.andaluciapr.com ; 2011 McLeary; r $85-129; )
Within striking distance of Ocean Park's excellent restaurants and beaches, this comfortable
guesthouse makes you feel like you're part of the neighborhood. Its 11 rooms sport pretty
tiling and striking boutique-style color schemes, and some have a kitchen or kitchenette. The
super-helpful owners lend out boogie boards and beach chairs, and there's a cozy terrace
deck and courtyard Jacuzzi.
Acacia Seaside Inn HOTEL $$
( 787-727-0668; www.acaciaseasideinn.com ; 8 Taft; r $105-210; ) A grandiose
Spanish colonial-style mansion with a profusion of elaborate staircases, this mini-hotel is
a chic smorgasbord of sophistication and style. We're talking funky wall art, an award-
winning restaurant, and a pool-sized Jacuzzi complete with granite surround and a Buddha
statue imported from China. Tranquilo, man.
Numero Uno GUESTHOUSE $$
( 787-726-5010; www.numero1guesthouse.com ; 1 Santa Ana; r $149-299;
) Pinch yourself - you're still in the middle of San Juan: Ocean Park, to be more precise,
the discerning traveler's antidote to Condado and Isla Verde. Hidden behind the walls of a
whitewashed 1940s beachfront house, and surrounded by palms and topped by a luminous
kidney-shaped swimming pool, the 12 rooms and four apartments are run by a former New
Yorker whose soaring vision has inspired an inn of spiffy rooms, intimate service and an ex-
quisite on-site seafood restaurant.
