viewing is unsurpassed; because of this, Prince Rupert is worth a
stay of several days. From here, catch one of the BC Ferries for an
all-day cruise down through the inland waterway to Port Hardy
on Vancouver Island. Allow one night there, then take a rental
car to the town of Courtenay. It's only 180 miles to the south, but
the route takes you inland and then along the coastline, so there
will be plenty to see. But get an early start; you want to reach
Courtenay by noon because VIA Rail's Courtenay-Victoria train
departs at 1:15 P.M. Spend a night or two in Victoria, then take
another ferry back to Vancouver.
